Courtney + Rudy
Rudy’s proposal was so sweet and everything I could’ve imagined! He had me thinking we were going on an ordinary double date with my sister and one of his buddies. Rudy’s friend, Paden, showed up at my door to pick us up. He said that Rudy was running late at work and we would just meet him somewhere. I didn’t think anything of it! So – we hopped in the car, but according to Paden, we needed to stop by Pine View High School first to “pick something up”. I suddenly became confused and suspicious, but I still had no idea that night was the night. Once we got to the high school, Paden pointed me in the right direction and I found a single red rose with a note attached to it. The note said that this was the first place we met, where it all began – and to find my next rose, I needed to go to the place we ate dinner on our first date. I quickly racked my brain and thought – Iggy’s! So that’s where we headed next. The rose I found at Iggy’s led me to where we shared our first kiss! The rose found at that location, led me to where we first said “I love you”. The roses kept coming and coming – 12 of them to be exact! It was so sweet because I was reminded of each special memory in our relationship. I had to think back a couple of years for the answers so I could find my next rose! Finally, after 2 hours of rose searching throughout the whole town… the 11th rose led me to the top of the airport hill. Paden, Jaimie and I pulled up and saw Rudy standing there next to a candlelit dinner, holding the 12th rose with the lights of the city behind him. Paden and Jaimie said “Well, it looks like there is only dinner for two.” I got out of the car and they drove off. I walked over to him. We were both smiling and laughing – and he handed me the 12th and final rose. I pulled out the note from the 12th rose and looked down to read it.. It said that tonight would be a night we would never forget. When I looked up.. I found him bent down on one knee holding the surprise ring I fell in love with – Then he popped the question…. and I said YES!!
What was one idea that made the wedding uniquely yours?
Just how much fun we wanted our guests to have. We had tons of food and a fun candy station. The room was filled with snapshots of us which told our story. My favorite part of our wedding was that we decided to have a DJ and have dancing at the very end of our reception. Everyone was helping us dance the night away from our little 4 year old nieces and nephews to our 80 year old grandparents!
What was one idea that the groom just had to have?
One thing that Rudy wanted to do was to SURPRISE ME! He loves surprising me and I should’ve known he would find yet another way to do so. After the bouquet & garter toss, the DJ pulled a chair out for me to sit in. I had no idea what was going on.. This was not in the plans! All of the sudden an old school Backstreet Boys song, “Drowning” came on and out walked the 3 groomsmen with Colorado Rockies baseball hats on which coincidentally is our initials – “CR”. I was so shocked! Although I loved the 3 guys singing their hearts out to me… I couldn’t help my eyes wandering looking for my husband. He finally made his appearance and joined the guys during the chorus. It was so cute and I loved it! I couldn’t decide if I wanted to laugh or cry.. I think I did a little bit of both. After, Rudy told me they had been practicing their performance for months behind my back. That was so sweet and made our wedding day that much more special to me!
Share a wedding budget splurge that made all the difference
The first thing we decided on was the venue. We wanted a venue that could be indoor and outdoor. We ended up choosing The Ledge’s because it had the perfect atmosphere!
Another thing we didn’t mind splurging on was the photography. What’s the point of having an extravagant wedding if you don’t have anything to show for it when it’s over? We chose Gideon Photography and knew he would capture our day perfectly – that way we can have beautiful photographs to help us remember how special our wedding day was!
