Jennifer & Gary
How did he/she propose?
We went to Jamaica with a group of friends. Our 10th anniversary was the night that he proposed. We were at this amazing Italian restaurant Evita’s. He got down on one knee and asked to make it forever! Our friends got it all on camera everyone knew but me. I honestly had no idea. It was beautiful!
How did you come up with the budget for your wedding, and did you stick to it?
Since this was the first and only time I will have a wedding and I’ve waited my whole life for this day…. I wanted it to be just as I wanted it. No matter the cost! As a destination bride, everything was a lot more affordable in Southern Utah than I thought it would be. We ended up being way under budget.
Was there any personal elements you incorporated into the wedding ceremony/reception?
I am a really strange person. I wanted so many different themes so I kinda just mixed them all together. Bohemian and Outdoor elements mixed with desert landscape details. I had to have a tambourine and a buffalo skull. They were a must. They were perfectly placed with the tambourine as my cake stand and the skull close by.
Did you have any “DIY” elements at your reception?
Forevermore Events took care of every detail. We had custom handwritten chalkboard signs everywhere. At the ceremony for every guest we had a ribbon wand with Orange and Teal ribbon as our send off as we walked back down the aisle. We had the cutest orange and teal hand fans with our initials and wedding date on them. It was a hot day so these were the perfect guest favor.
How did you decide on your color scheme and theme for the wedding?
All my life I knew without a doubt Orange would be the main color of my wedding day. The teal just really complimented it.
What was a “must have” for your big day?
My wedding dress was the biggest “must have” for me. It had to be perfect. I found Alta Moda Bridal Boutique in Salt Lake City Ut and made an appointment to shop for the perfect dress. I told them my vision and tried on five different dresses. I picked the very first dress I tried on. The best part was they gave me the option to change the color from white and pink to white and orange. The most beautiful dress I have ever seen!
Share a wedding budget splurge that made a difference?
The venue. I fell in love with Red Mountain Resort the first time I laid eyes on it over 8 years ago. When we started to plan the wedding I never really gave any other place a thought. I didn’t really care how much it was going to cost or what the weather was going to do I needed it to be there.
Besides tying the knot, what was your favorite part of the day?
I was in complete bliss to have my closest family and friends in such a beautiful place to share every detail with Gary and myself!
Any advice you could pass on to future brides?
My advice is to hire a wedding planner! We hired Laura at Forevermore Events and let me tell you they do this for a living. They know what needs to be done, when it needs to be done and how it needs to be done! Hiring a wedding planner takes a lot of the stress off your shoulders so you actually get to ENJOY your special day.
