Britnie & Christopher: Real Wedding
How did he propose to you?
We were on a Disney cruise and I had no idea it was coming. We were packing up to leave and he asked me to check something in his backpack. I opened up the backpack and the ring was sitting on top opened, I turned around and Chris was on his knee.
How did you come up with a budget?
I didn’t have an exact budget in mind when we started. I found the people I wanted to do my photography and flowers. I checked on their pricing to figure out how I was going to make it work. I did have an idea of what I wanted to spend and yes I went over that.
Did you have any personal elements?
I feel like our entire wedding had personal elements. The biggest compliment I got from my guests was how unique my wedding was and how ME it was. I rode in on a tractor. We walked down the aisle to untraditional songs. The ceremony was very fun and light hearted. We had photos of us all around. The whole wedding was tailored for us.
How did you choose your color & theme?
I love the whole shabby color scheme and I knew it would fit perfect with my theme. I wanted my wedding to be in a barn so once I got engaged I looked up barns close to Vegas and I found the Barn at Zion. It was perfect! I wanted my theme to be rustic and romantic.
What was a Must Have?
I had a few must haves. First, donuts. Everyone who knows me knows I love donuts and instead of a cake I wanted donuts. Second was good music! I had the most amazing DJ and he definitely made the reception turn into Club Love.
Did you have any DIY Elements?
The whole wedding was a DIY done by Kasi Miller. She designed my whole wedding and made my dream a reality. From the entrance, to the center pieces, to the lighting, the wedding was completely designed for me.
What was a wedding day splurge?
I splurged on two things. The first thing was my flowers. For me the first thing I notice at weddings are flowers. They are the most important element to me. I think flowers make a wedding. I loved my flowers. Bloomers did an amazing job. It was all I dreamed and more. Second, I didn’t plan on having a videographer but the minute I saw a wedding video by Kale Fitch, I had to have him. He was more than worth it.
What was your favorite part of the day?
There were so many things. I loved watching Chris tear up as we said I do. I loved sharing this day with all our friends and family. Walking into the barn and seeing the transformation that was made was a dream come true. And last, the amazing firework show that took place over the lake.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
Do what YOU want. It’s your day, make it your day. If you don’t want to do all the usual wedding traditions don’t. Make your own new traditions. Don’t sweat the small stuff, somehow everything comes together the way it should.
