Kassidy & Scott
How did you meet?
We met through a mutual friend at Dixie State University. I had just moved from Southern California to go to school at Dixie where I met Scott who grew up in St. George.
How did he/she propose?
Scott grew up golfing, and being that we live in St. George, a golf course was the perfect place for him to propose. It was a beautiful day and it was great to see him hit so many great shots. As we approached the green on the first hole Scott asked me to look for his golf ball that was somewhere in the longer grass, just off of the green. It didn’t take me very long to encounter a round piece of wood about two inches thick with the words, “Will you marry me?” carved in the center. I was so surprised and thought the sign was made for someone else but then I recognized my ring which was gently resting on a golf ball. He got down on one knee and asked the question and I without thinking said, “YES!” Which is crazy because we had only dated for six weeks!
How did you come up with the budget for your wedding, and did you stick to it?
My amazing mom is such a great planner, she literally planned every inch of our wedding! We would imagine things and she would help me make them come to life. I am lucky enough to have a mom and dad so supportive and willing to help with the wedding costs! Our budget was average, but the wedding was spectacular.
Were there any personal elements you incorporated into the wedding ceremony/reception?
There were many personal touches! We had a slideshow playing of us growing up. Scott had a “grooms cake” that was golf themed and even had a little golf ball and tee on it. My sister put together a program for the reception where our maid of honor and best man gave speeches and also our siblings, and she also put on the program interesting facts about Scott and myself, which was cute for everyone to read while they were waiting/eating at the tables. Another personal touch was that I wore one of my great grandmothers dresses for when we left our reception, she passed away a few years ago and we were very close so it was so great to have a reminder of her there with me!
How did you decide on your theme for the wedding?
Pinterest was my best friend while planning the wedding and basically led me to love the modern/woodland theme that I chose. Living in a desert made me want something a bit unique and different and I feel that we definitely got that from our wedding!
What was a “must have” for your big day?
It was having the perfect dress that I felt beautiful in and that I could look back on and still love! For Scott he just wanted me to show up!
Share a wedding budget splurge that made a difference?
We had a photo booth which was so fun for our guests to take pictures in and leave their mark on our day. They were able to keep a copy of their photos and put a copy in a booklet that was made for us with our guests pictures and comments from them as well. Again, my amazing mother had that idea and I am so glad she did!
Besides tying the knot, what was your favorite wedding day moment?
Hearing our friends and siblings give their speeches. We both have known our best man/maid of honor since we were about 5 years old so it was so touching to hear them talk about our friendships and how supportive they were to us getting married. Our siblings shared stories from growing up and tears were definitely shed. We are so lucky to have such great people in our lives!
