Katie And Allen
I love the way Allan proposed because he involved my kids in it. One night my family decided they wanted to do a new puzzle Allan had got. I wasn’t that excited about doing a puzzle but sat down to help them. After a few minutes I recognized one of my kids on a puzzle piece. I thought how cute he had a puzzle made with pictures of my kids on it. Then I realized they were holding signs in the pictures. It didn’t take long to realized what the sign said….WILL YOU MARRY ME? Then he got down on one knee and popped the question. My daughters were freaking out. It was pretty fun!
What was one idea that made the wedding uniquely yours?
For our wedding I didn’t get caught up in having everything perfectly perfect. Because it was my second wedding I didn’t feel like I needed to do all the traditional things. I did only what I wanted to do. I really just wanted a wedding that was pretty but also a fun relaxed atmosphere and I think we were able to accomplish that.
What was one idea that the groom just had to have?
The only thing my fiancé was pretty adamant on having for our wedding was his beard. He got a lot of grief from people telling him he needed to shave for the wedding but when it came to his beard he put his foot down.
Share a wedding budget splurge that made all the difference
I wasn’t sure about spending the money for the dance floor and band but that ended up being such a fun thing for people to do. It was definitely worth the money.
Were there any personal elements that you incorporated into the wedding ceremony/reception?
My favorite part of my wedding ceremony was after we exchanged rings Allan called my 3 little daughters up to the front and gave them each a little rose gold knot ring. He told them that although he was marrying me he was making a commitment to them to make our family stronger. My girls who had lost their father 5 years previous were crying tears of joy. They were so excited to have a dad. It was very touching.
Did you have DIY elements and how did you incorporate them?
The only thing I did myself was little wedding favors for our guest to take home. I ordered seed papers cut into heart shapes from Etsy. We put those in little vellum envelopes and had a sticker on one side saying “Our Love In Bloom” on the other side it said “PLANT ME”. They could take the seed paper home and plant wild flowers. I thought it was a very cute and affordable idea.
What was one “must have” that made your wedding unforgettable?
I loved having my wedding at the time of day we did. We started the ceremony right before sun down and moved to dinner after and a little reception by the time it started getting dark. I loved that Forevermore Events was able to incorporate café lights above the dance floor and candles around the table.
If you were giving advise to future brides what would it be?
I would tell other brides not to stress out so much. A wedding planner is well worth the money so you can just sit back and enjoy your special day.
