Newlyweds Danny & Amanda Fawson, from Salt Lake City, knew with the amazing weather, and inspiring vistas, Southern Utah would be an ideal destination to celebrate their dream wedding . The Ledges golf club with its beautiful setting of greens against the rugged red rock was the perfect venue for the modern yet classic feel they were looking for.
The newlywed’s love story began when Danny & Amanda were introduced through a mutual friend in Salt Lake City. The two then dated for almost a year and a half before getting engaged, and were married on their two year anniversary of being together.
After a “one for the books” surprise engagement in Cancun Mexico, the couple began planning their personalized wedding. Amanda is an Event Planner herself, and knew that she wanted to be very involved in the planning process, but didn’t want all the stress associated with a wedding, so she and Danny sought out the help of Wedding and Event Planner, Laura Stagg of Forevermore Events. “We wanted it to be memorable,” they said. “We played on things we really liked, and had a lot of help from Laura who was able to execute our vision better than we could have ever imagined.” “The best part about the planning process for me was that Danny was part of every aspect of the wedding decisions, we made each decision together which made the wedding day that much more personal. We took road trips to Southern Utah together to meet with our vendors to determine all of the details, from the tastings, the designer linens and the stunning floral. From the wedding invitations, down to the table settings, even the name of the signature drink”.
“We talked about our expectations, our vision, our limits; which made all of our decisions that much simpler. From there, everything just started to come together naturally. I am in no way implying that there were not any “bumps” in the road, but during this overwhelming, and at times, all-consuming process, I found it important to remember that we are not attempting it alone…just like the rest of our lives”.
Of course all weddings come with a budget. “Once the budget is determined, it’s time to sit down and figure out what is most important to you, and where you want to allocate your funds. A “Top 5” must haves is probably a good place to start.” With Laura’s help the couple created their “Top 5”; photography, floral, food and drink, having that “wow” factor in decor and ambiance, and making their guests feel special. “Once you have an idea or vision the next step is to find out who or what can make those key things happen for your big day.” The couple said they had no problem finding their way to the “best vendors in the area,” through word of mouth and research. “You will know when you have met the right people. You know that they not only want to make your wedding dreams come true, but they are going to be your friends for life. You just get that feeling.”
Amanda didn’t want anything less than the best when it came to photography so it’s not surprising she chose Jimmy with Gideon Photography as her photographer. “As soon as I saw Jimmy’s portfolio I knew I wanted him to capture every moment of our special day.” His work is exquisite and his eye for detail is amazing. Amanda says that with the picturesque backdrop, their wedding photos were stunning. They are priceless memories they will treasure forever as well as be able to share with their future children.
Flowers can make a statement at any event, for Amanda’s wedding, they said it all. Adorned with arrangements and designs by Bloomers Flowers and Gifts, both the reception and ceremony exceeded expectations. “We really wanted to focus on flowers. That was important to me so I spent a lot on floral arrangements.” Time and money well spent gave this wedding the floral fairytale Amanda wanted for herself, and her guests. “I really wanted a lot of ‘wow’ pieces, I had some elaborate floral pieces for the ceremony,” she said. “I spent a lot of time coming up with the vision. From the chandeliers hanging in the gorgeous dining room to the tented lounge area that brought an indoor feeling, outdoors.”
The Ledges was a major draw because of Danny’s love for golf and the amazing atmosphere. One hundred fifty guests joined Amanda and Danny for a sit-down style dinner consisting of creamy mustard chicken, asparagus, poached pear salad, and artisan breads. The bride and groom opted to have a signature drink served during the cocktail hour. They chose the name “Apple of my Eye” for the drink, which was a “green appletini” with a sugared rim.
“Since our wedding was a destination wedding for 99% of our guests, we wanted to make everything extra special for them. It was our goal to make them feel appreciated that they traveled so far to be there with us for our big day. We wanted them to love everything as much as we did.” Their guests all knew of Danny’s love of golf. “We wanted to add a little golf to the design, and included it in our favors for the guests, which scored a big drive.” “We had golf balls monogrammed with our initials and the date of the wedding, and a small bag of tees inscribed with “Danny and Amanda Together Fore-ever.”
From the proposal on the beach to the spectacular golf course “I do’s”, Danny and Amanda’s wedding was a dream come true. Here’s to the “par-fect” pair.
